Operational Functionality - Reverse Watch 2.0 Body-not-Home

Modified on Wed, 20 May at 11:16 AM

The MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch system is an advanced reversing aid option for the MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System. The MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch utilises a high quality, programmable system to detect people and objects in blind spots, and, in combination with the MAX-SAFE Brake system, stops the vehicle in the event an object is detected in a pre-defined 'Danger Zone'.

The 'Danger Zone' is calibrated by default to output a trigger if it detects an object within 3m directly behind the vehicle or within approximately 1.3 meters on either side of the centre mounted position of the radar sensor.

If an object is detected in the 'Danger Zone', the radar sends an output signal to the MAX-SAFE ECU, which activates the MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System and applies the vehicle park brake.

The radar monitors a zone of 5-6 metres behind the vehicle with the operation of:

Operation in ReverseWarning SymbolWarning Signal
System ActiveNo FlashingNo signal
System in Warning Mode
Objected detected within 5 metres
Green - No FlashingSignal every 1 sec
System in Alert Mode

Yellow - Flash every 2 secSignal every 0.5 sec

Red - Flash every 1 secSolid tone

The Body-not-Home option overcomes unwanted brake applications whilst reversing for loading or unloading purposes by disabling the system. If an object is detected in the 'Danger Zone' while the Hooklift/Body is in the HOME or STOWED position, the radar sends an output signal to the ECU, which activates the MSARB system and applies the park brake.

However, when the Hooklift/Body is engaged and moved from the HOME or STOWED position, the braking of the system is disabled, allowing the driver to reverse without the brake being automatically applied. While the Hooklift/Body is engaged, the radar and in-cab display remain active, providing audible and visual warnings of obstacles in the Detection Zone at the rear of the vehicle, helping to maintain a high level of personnel and property detection.

The park brake will NOT apply if an objected is detected in the 'Danger Zone' whilst the Hooklift/Body is UP. Audible Alarms will still alert while reversing.

Always ensure it is safe to reverse through the use of mirrors and other reversing aids.

The MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch system is designed to operate optimally at a vehicle speed of 8km/h or lower.

The system WILL NOT BRAKE over 15km/h.
