The MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System™ is designed to complement the existing park brake system of any vehicle. The brake system gathers information from electrical signals sent by system components and the vehicle electrical system. The MAX-SAFE ECU then determines the risk state of the vehicle having a roll-away scenario due to the operator leaving the vehicle without the park brake applied. The operator is provided with a pre-warning visually and audibly if the system determines that the vehicle is at the point of rolling away.

The MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch® 2.0 system is an advanced reversing aid option for the MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System™. The MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch® 2.0 system utilises an advanced radar to detect people and objects in a pre-defined monitored area behind the vehicle and, in combination with the MAX-SAFE Anti-Rollaway Brake System™, stops the vehicle in the event an object is detected in the pre-defined Danger Zone.

A major update to Reverse Watch 2.0 is the use of an LCD screen to provide the driver with status information and operation functions. The new LCD collapses three (3) components of Reverse Watch 1.0 into one (1), including:

  • LED display used for the Anti-Rollaway Brake System
  • LED display used for the radar
  • Pause/Over-ride button

Reverse Watch 2.0 solely uses an LCD screen that displays the active system and utilises a touch screen to replace the use of the physical Pause/Over-ride button. And unlike Reverse Watch 1.0, Reverse Watch 2.0’s LCD screen is for use in both Pneumatic and Mechanical Park Brake vehicles.

The Reverse Watch 2.0 system gives shorter reaction times and allows more programable states of alert than Reverse Watch 1.0. And unlike Reverse Watch 1.0, the new system allows the radar to be off-set slightly from the centreline of the rear of vehicle.

However, it is still imperative that the radar is mounted correctly to ensure that the system operates as intended. The system can be either overly sensitive or not sensitive enough if the radar mount is incorrect, and showing the following symptoms:

  • Shadow triggering;
  • Activation whilst transitioning from steep driveways;
  • Increase in the occurrence of false activations during inclement weather periods.

This installation guide provides instructions on how to install the MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch® 2.0 system into vehicles that have a MAX-SAFE system installed.

For how to operate the Reverse Watch® 2.0 system, please refer to the document Operational Functionality Guide – MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch® 2.0.

If this system is to be installed into a vehicle with a hooklift or tipper body, please also refer to the document Installation Guide – MAX-SAFE Reverse Watch® 2.0 - Body-not-Home Option.
